• Through the making of this doll-based gala dress (almost one hundred dolls attached to the fabric) Juliana Rodriguez reviewed her own relationship between art and dolls.

Rodriguez started the hand sewing of this dress in September of 2019 and she gave the last stiches in the end of January 2020. What started as a custom dress for Halloween ended up turning in a conceptual work of art about the tight relation between the pulsion of life and death that push to the act of creation.

The chose of fabrics and designing of the dress goes to the idea of fuse fairy tales allegories in contraposition to the choice of the black color. Thus the selection of dolls are choices of 80s and 90s toys with the intention of bring to the viewer to their own childhood memories and settle them in a common ground beside the artist.
